Your Touchpoint event can pull attendees, sessions, speakers and other data from a Certain Platform event. Nothing syncs until you submit an Integration Request for that event.
Set up the sync
Submit the Touchpoint Integration Request form for each event. What the form asks, and what to choose:
- Touchpoint event dashboard URL: the address of your event in the CMS.
- Certain account code and event code: from your Platform event.
- Ignore participant types? Choose No if you want attendee types (participant types) to come over. Choosing Yes is the most common reason attendee types are missing.
- Import display email? / Import display telephone? Choose Yes only if attendees should see each other's email or phone in the app.
- Survey/CEI and lead integrations: only if you use these.
What syncs, and how fast
- Changes usually show in Touchpoint within about 5 minutes.
- Attendees aren't notified about updates. Send a push notification if needed.
- The sync stops after the event ends.
Which registrations come over
- The registration has to be Complete in Platform.
- Its registration status has to be tagged Touchpoint: Synced in Platform. You can tag statuses yourself; if you add a new custom status, tag it too.
- Cancelled or test records drop off when their status isn't tagged.
Which agenda items come over
Agenda items sync only when they're tagged Touchpoint: Synced in Platform.
Before you contact support, check
- Did you submit the Integration Request for this event?
- Is the registration Complete?
- Is its status tagged Touchpoint: Synced?
- Has it been at least 5 minutes?
FAQ
I edited a session in Touchpoint and my change disappeared.
Data that comes from Platform is updated from Platform. Make the change in Platform instead.
Some sessions aren't syncing.
Check for two sessions sharing the same code, or hidden characters pasted into a location name. Retype the name in Platform.
Can I stop syncing a field, like email, phone, organization or title?
Contact Certain Support and we'll change the integration. A few things can't be left out, such as the name prefix and agenda items with fees.
Sessions picked in Platform don't show in the app.
Check the Agenda feature settings under App Design > Features/Menu > Agenda. With Platform Integration on, the app uses session registrations from Platform. With Touchpoint Managed on, it ignores them. See the Agenda article.
How do I make a session private?
Tag it Touchpoint: Private in Platform. If you don't see that tag, contact Certain Support and we'll add it.
Attendees disappeared from the app after we checked them in.
Checking someone in with Certain's Check-In app changes their registration status in Platform, often to Attended. If that status isn't tagged Touchpoint: Synced, the next sync removes them from the app. Before the event, tag every status your check-in uses (check Status after check-in in your Check-In app settings). If it already happened, tag the status now and they come back on the next sync, usually within about 5 minutes. Don't change their status back by hand.
Can Certain re-sync my event?
Yes. Contact Certain Support if the checklist above didn't fix it.
