Building a great event app with Touchpoint
MARKETING YOUR APP
Congratulations on creating your event’s mobile application with Touchpoint! Now it’s time to get the word out!
Announce that your event has a native app for the iPhone, iPad and Android and also a mobile web version for Blackberry, Windows and other devices.
Highlight the most compelling aspects of your app, such as:
- Network with other attendees!
- View the presentations!
- Play the badge game!
- See your own customized itinerary!
- Participate in live polling!
- Access the full agenda with maps and speaker bios, up-to-the-minute updates and important messages from the conference planner, an attendee list, exhibitor booth locations and more!
Provide download and access directions. Include search terms and the mobile web URL for your event.
- iPhone and iPad users: Search the Apple App Store.
- Android users: Search the Google Play Store.
- Access the full agenda with maps and speaker bios, up-to-the-minute updates and important messages from the conference planner, an attendee list, exhibitor booth locations and more!
Communicate Wi-Fi instructions, if applicable.
Send a dedicated app announcement email to your attendees. Don’t bury the app in a general conference email. Share the benefits of the app and let your attendees know if your aim is to go paperless. Send another email the day before the event.
Printed Mailings & Program Guides
Announce the availability of the event mobile application in any physical mailings that are sent to prospective attendees about the event. Also include a paragraph about the mobile app in the printed program guide, if you have one.
Standing placard for your registration table at the event
At the registration table, include a tabletop display highlighting the iPhone/iPad/Android app search terms for the Apple App and Google Play Stores and the mobile web URL. Hand out a note card upon check in and remind your representatives to mention the mobile app.
Announce the app at the opening session
Have your speaker state the benefits of the app and show a slide of how to access the app.
Consider having a drawing
Get your sponsors to donate prizes for drawings/giveaways for such actions as downloading the app, messaging or setting up profiles within the app or filling out an in-app survey.
Be app friendly
Set up charging stations for mobile devices. Conduct a quick demo at the start of the conference to show your attendees the benefits and how to use the app. Finally, encourage speakers and key stakeholders to use the app and share the news.
