A universal password is one shared password that all your attendees use to log in to your event. Certain Support sets it for you.
Security: We advise against a universal password, especially if your app allows attendee-to-attendee messaging or profile editing. Anyone with the password can sign in as any attendee whose email they know (anyone already on the event's attendee list).
How to request it
Send Certain Support:
- Your Touchpoint app and event name
- The password you want. It's case sensitive. Pick something easy to share with attendees but hard to guess.
We'll set it and confirm it in our reply. You can ask us to change or remove it the same way.
Who it works for
The universal password only works for attendees. It doesn't work for:
- Speakers. Speakers always use their own password, even at events where they're attending rather than speaking. See How do speakers log in to the app and the VIP Portal?
- Managers. Anyone who manages your event in the CMS logs in to the app with their CMS password. See How do event managers log in to the app?
Attendees can also use the one-time password in the Request a Password email. It works for 15 minutes. See Login Options.
FAQ
An attendee can't log in with the universal password.
Check whether they were a speaker at this or a past event, or whether they manage your event in the CMS. Those people need their own password.
Can attendees still set their own password?
Yes, unless that option is turned off. If you're using a universal password, you may want to ask us to turn off "Allow user to create their own password."
Where can I see the universal password?
Once it's set, it shows on your event card on the Organization Homepage. To change it, contact Certain Support.
Next step: Contact Certain Support with your event name and the password you want.
