You build your app's home screen from panels. Drag panels into place, then edit each one's settings. You can use a panel more than once.
Start from a template
Pick one of six starter layouts in the CMS. Each fills your home screen with example images you can replace.
Image sizes for each starter layout
| Layout | Image sizes (width x height, pixels) |
|---|---|
| Layout 1 | Banner image 750 x 200; main image 750 x 450; pinned image at the bottom 750 x 150 |
| Layout 2 | Titles icon 130 x 130; image 750 x 350 |
| Layout 3 | Image 750 x 650; pinned image at the bottom 750 x 150 |
| Layout 4 | Background image only, 750 x 1200 |
| Layout 5 | Image 750 x 200; titles icon 130 x 130; background image 750 x 1200 |
| Layout 6 | Image 750 x 500; two titles icons 130 x 130; background image 750 x 1200 |
Each starter layout's sample images have their size printed on them, so you can match your own images to them. Image panels are always 750 pixels wide. The height depends on how tall you make the panel; click Edit on the panel to see the size for your layout. Images wider than 750 pixels are scaled down, and the file limit is 4 MB.
Important: Changing templates replaces all your existing panels.
Settings every panel has
- Margins: on by default. Turn them off to make a panel sit flush against another panel or the screen edge.
- Pin to Bottom of Screen: keeps the panel at the bottom while everything else scrolls.
Most panels also have Panel Background Color, Panel Text Color (both default to your color theme) and Panel Transparency (0 is clear, 1 is solid).
Panels
Activity Feed
Shows the latest activity feed posts. Settings: Title, plus colors and transparency.
Check In
Lets attendees enter a session check-in code from the home screen. Line 1 is the help text above the code field, like "Enter your check-in code below." Each session needs its own code.
Buttons
A single row of up to 5 buttons linking to features. Check the buttons to add, and drag to reorder. Drag the panel edge to resize. Colors default to your theme's button colors.
Featured Speakers
Shows the speakers you've marked as Featured in the Speakers feature.
- Fade Between Speakers: uncheck to slide instead.
-
Rotation Interval: seconds before the next speaker. 0 stops it; attendees can still swipe.
Happening Now
Shows sessions that are happening now.
- Display before session begins (minutes): how early a session appears. Default is 30 minutes before it starts.
- Display after session begins (minutes): how long it stays. Default is 15 minutes after it starts.
- Limit How Many to Display: how many sessions rotate.
-
Fade Between Upcoming Sessions and Rotation Interval work like the other rotating panels.
Images
One or more images, for branding, sponsors or anything graphic. Click Edit to see the recommended size. The largest image sets the panel's size. Fade and rotation settings work like the other rotating panels.
Messages
Shows the latest messages from you or other users. Set how many show with Limit How Many to Display.
Photos
Shows photos from the Photos feature, three per page. Set how many with Limit How Many to Display. Fade Between Photos and Rotation Interval work like the other rotating panels.
Titles
An image on the left with three lines of text, usually the event name, a subheading and the dates. The image is square, 130 x 130 pixels (.png or .jpg). Line 1 uses the panel text color; lines 2 and 3 use your theme's secondary and tertiary text colors.
Spacer
Empty space between two panels, like between two rows of buttons. Drag the edge to resize. Spacers don't have a color.
FAQ
Some buttons aren't showing.
Buttons set to Hidden don't show. An inactive page still takes a button slot until you remove it from the buttons.
Content shows behind the pinned bar, or there are gaps.
Adjust each panel's margins. Image panels leave a gap by design.
"Happening Now" says nothing is happening.
A session only shows from 30 minutes before it starts to 15 minutes after it starts, unless you change those settings. Check the session times and your event's time zone.
What image size should I use?
Click Edit on the panel for the recommended size. Animated GIFs and video aren't supported at the top of the home screen.
Can I track clicks on a banner image link?
Clicks on home screen panel links aren't reported. To track clicks, add the link to a session, exhibitor or other content item under Links and Attachments. Those clicks show in Event Reports > Related Link Download Reports. See Where can I download live poll results, link clicks and other reports?.
How do I remove past events from the app's event list?
Set the event's Visibility to Archived.
The CMS preview looks different from the app.
The preview is close but not exact. Check on a phone before you launch.
I added a feature while the app is live. Will attendees be told?
No. It shows up when their app syncs.
Next step: If something still doesn't show on a phone, contact Certain Support with the device type and a screenshot.
