Speakers use their own password, and the same password works in both the app and the Speaker VIP Portal.
Setting or resetting a speaker password
Speakers can request or reset their password from either place:
- In the app: tap Login, then Request a Password.
- In the VIP Portal: click create a password. The same link resets an existing password.
Whichever they use, the same login works in both. Passwords must be at least 14 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter and a number.
The email comes from donotreply@certaintouchpoint.com, with the subject "[App name] Password instructions." If one-time passwords are on for your app, it also has a 6-digit code that works for 15 minutes.
No Request a Password button?: It only shows when Certain has turned on two app settings: Display Request a Password Button and Allow user to create their own password. Contact Certain Support to turn them on.
Setting a speaker's password yourself
In the CMS, go to Speakers, open the speaker, and click Set Password (or Edit > Manage Password). Once they have a password, you'll also see Generate a 15 minute password. You can't do this when the speaker is also a CMS manager. Managers reset their own password (see How do event managers log in to the app?).
Why the universal password doesn't work for speakers
Speakers have VIP-level access, so they always need their own password. This also applies to someone who was a speaker at one of your past events and is attending this one. Their email still counts as a speaker.
FAQ
A speaker can't use the universal password.
That's expected. Have them request their own password (above).
Do speakers need to register as attendees?
No. Speakers added through the Speaker Portal come into Touchpoint as speakers and can use the app.
A speaker sees the wrong events in the VIP Portal.
The portal only shows events where they're a speaker.
Can more than one speaker run the same live poll?
Yes. All speakers on a session share its poll, and changes by one show for the others.
Can we change who the password email comes from?
Not at the moment.
Next step: If a speaker still can't log in, contact Certain Support with their email.
